I read an article a few months back about something known as” The Gender Spectrum”. This article featured American teens that were known as “‘gender queer” ( meaning they didn’t feel male nor female). These teens were born as male or female beings but didn’t feel like they fit in their bodies.
It bothers me to think that some people are so ignorant to think that just because you look male or female that is what you are. Who are we as a society to decide whether or not someone is male or female? They may have been born in that body but if they decide to go through with a sex change then their identities should be changed as their gender on all government documents.
Another issue with this, is that a lot of people believe you can only be one gender or the other. These people believe you are male or female and there is no in between.
I think people have a right to decide whether or not they feel they fit their identity. If they say they feel like they don’t fit either stereotype or society’s views as a person then they should be viewed as they are.
It’s not fair to anyone to expect them to fit into society’s molds and not grant them normal rights.
