An MMA Seminar in London

So this past weekend I had an opportunity to go cover a story with a good friend of mine in London Ontario. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity it’s a great opportunity to network and learn some new things.

So my friend Christina, Christine and myself all headed out on Friday. It was interesting considering we were heading into “Snow belt country”. We stayed at the Delta Armories which is huge. It’s a  20 floor  hotel with a pool and a hot tub a 24- hour gym and a children’s play area.

Friday night we went out for dinner and then went back to the hotel to relax a little. Bright and early Saturday morning– what? Okay not early, 10′o clock isn’t early. We headed down to John Paul II Secondary School for the seminar. Jeff Joslin was up first( while Christina and Christine were  on the mats I was going around taking video and photos.)   Up next, was Olympic coach Dave Mair and then it was lunch time.

We headed down to a Farmer’s Market and got some awesome munchies.

We then headed back for the last half of the day… with Mark Hominick and  Chris Hordecki.

Christina suggested that I interview those two, so I  did. It was really interesting considering  my limited knowledge of  MMA. See Christina and Christine both train in this sport whereas I just happen to know what I see and hear from fighters.  I had two really good interviews but the one that I felt really delved to get information was the interview with Horedecki. I felt like I was really able to get into his world.

I also interviewed  Tony Lee about his first professional fight and that was also an enlightening interview.

So nonetheless I wrote an article on the event which was posted on MMA Canada.

Anyways,  it was quite the experience to interview these fighters and get to know what they  feel whenever they enter the ring.
